NPR Life: 2013 Release Names

If you’re just tuning in, the NPR tech team has been playing a guessing game with the theme of each year’s code release names. The names are in alphabetical order, and a successful guess earned the winner the responsibility of coming up with the next year’s theme. We thought it would be fun to let our blog readers try their hand at it. So, each week, we’ll show the list of names, and give out the answer the following week.

Here’s the answer for the 2012 theme. They are all the first names of Olympic Gold medalists.

From Astrid Kumbernuss, a German female shot putter and discus thrower to Usain Bolt, a Jamaican sprinter and fastest human in the world.

Just for an excuse to show more Olympics videos, here’s Mary Lou Retton in 1984 on the balance beam.

And lastly, Pernilla Wiberg winning Olympic gold in skiing in 1992.

On to 2013!

As is usual, I’m going to reveal the names three at a time, to make it a bit more challenging. Keep scrolling to get the full list.

There’s the whole A to U! Good luck! See if you can figure it out without resorting to a search engine.

If you want to show off, you can comment with your guess, or tweet at The NPR Tech Team.

We’ll reveal the answer next week.
